Duties of ATC (Air Traffic Control): The Indian Navy operates various types of modern aircraft from shore based airfields as well as from ships. Air Traffic Control Officers in the Indian Navy control naval fighter aircraft, maritime reconnaissance aircraft and multi-role helicopters both ashore and afloat.

Eligibility Criteria ATC Indian Navy

Age Limit: Candidates between 22 and 25 years of age are eligible to apply for the post of ATC.

Education Qualification: Candidates having qualification BE/B.Tech degree in any discipline with Physics & Maths subjects in 12th standard are eligible to apply ATC post Indian Navy.

Observer Indian Navy

About Observer: The Observer officer gets an opportunity to participate in all facets of naval operations on board the “eyes of the Fleet: the maritime patrol aircraft or ship-borne multi-role helicopters”. You would also be responsible for firing weapons, as and when the need arises.

Duties of Observer Indian Navy: As an airborne tactician, you will fly on board helicopters or fixed-wing aircraft of the Indian Navy. You will get an opportunity to participate in all facets of Naval Operations on board Maritime Patrol aircraft and state-of-the-art helicopter.

Eligibility Criteria Observer Indian Navy

Age: Candidates between 19 and 24 years of age are eligible to apply for post of Observer Indian Navy.

Educational Qualification: Candidates having qualification BE/B.Tech degree in any discipline with Physics & Maths subjects in 12th standard are eligible to apply for Observer post Indian Navy.

Naval Architecture Indian Navy

About Naval Architecture: Naval Architects specialize in warship and submarine construction. A Naval Architect is involved in design, quality control, repair and construction of Naval vessels. In no other career, an Architecture Officer gets exposed to such wide developments. The Naval Architecture Cadre offers excellent opportunities to keep abreast of advancements in ship-building technology.

Duties of Naval Architecture: As an officer in the Naval Architect Cadre, your assigned duties would encompass a wide spectrum, including design of warships and submarines, overseeing of construction at various shipyards, platform trials at sea, appointment on board warships as well as refit and operational support for ships and submarines, including dry docking. Also, there is an-enriching exposure to current and future technologies.

Eligibility Criteria Architecture Indian Navy

Age Limit: Candidates between 19 ½ and 25 years of age are eligible to apply for post of Architecture Indian Navy.

Educational Qualification: The candidates must possess at least 60% marks in BE/B. Tech Degree in any one of the following stream for the Post of Architecture Indian Navy:-

  • Mechanical
  • Civil
  • Aeronautical

  • Naval Architecture
Logistics/Works/Catering Post Indian Navy

About Logistics/Works/Catering: Logistics Officer is trained by the Navy in the field of Inventory Management, Finance, Supply Chain Management and Information Technology. You as a Logistics Officer would be responsible for management of Integrated Supply chain activities, using cutting edge technologies and suitable managerial skills. It is a challenging job where your contribution is crucial for successful achievement of mission objectives and at the same time provides you with enough scope for personal growth and advancement.

Duties of Logistics/Works: As a Logistics Officer in Indian Navy you will be responsible for smooth supply of stores to all naval ships/units. Officers with Works Specialization would get a wide exposure in Civil Work and Infrastructure-related appointments.

Eligibility Criteria Logistics/Works Indian Navy

Age Limit: Candidates between 19 ½ and 25 years of age are eligible to apply for post of Logistics/Works in Indian Navy.

Education Qualification: Education qualification for the post of Logistics, Works, Catering in Indian Navy will be as follows:-

  • For Logistics Cadre: The candidates having qualification BE/B Tech in any discipline with 1st class or MBA with 1st class or B Sc/B Com/B Sc(IT) with 1st class and PG Diploma in Finance/Logistics/Supply Chain Mgt/Material Mgt or MCA/M Sc(IT) with 1st class are eligible to apply for the post of Logistics Indian Navy.
  • Education Qualification for Works:  Candidates having qualifications BE/B Tech(Civil)/B Architect are eligible to apply for the post of Logistics works in Indian Navy.
  • For Catering Officer: Candidates having education qualification M Sc(HM)/MBA(HM)/B Sc or BA with 1st class and PG Diploma in HM are eligible to apply for the post of Catering in the Indian Navy.
Education Officer Indian Navy

About Education Indian Navy: Education officers provide support towards education, training and professional development of Naval personnel. Education Officers impart instructions in various Indian Naval Training Establishments including the prestigious Indian Naval Academy (INA) at Ezhimala. Education Officers are engaged in teaching science, technical and service subjects to naval cadets undergoing B.Tech training at INA.

Age Limit Education Officer: Candidates between 21 to 25 years of age are eligible to apply for post of Education Officer in the Indian Navy.

Education Qualification Education Officer Indian Navy:

  • A second class Master’s degree of a recognized university in Physics or Mathematics.Candidates possessing Master’s degree in Physics should have studied Mathematics at least at the subsidiary level at the degree standard and those possessing master’s degree in Mathematics should have studies Physics at least at the subsidiary level at degree standard.

  • A second class Master’s degree of a recognized university in Chemistry or English. Candidates possessing Master’s degree in chemistry should have studies Physics at least at the subsidiary level at the degree standard and those possessing Master’s degree in English should have studied Physics or Mathematics up to the intermediate or equivalent standard.

  • A degree in any of the following discipline:-
  • Mechanical Engineering

  • Engineering in Computer Science/Technology

Law/Advocate/JAG Department Indian Navy

About Law/Advocate/JAG Department Indian Navy: The JAG Department is the cornerstone of the law of the Indian Navy, professionally contributing to a disciplined force, with targeted legal solutions in the performance of legal and judicial duties. The JAG Department  plays a very crucial role by effectively discharging its responsibilities in administering and supervising the naval justice system, which is inextricably linked to maintaining good order and discipline and promotes confidence in the Naval justice system.

Duties of Law/Advocate/JAG Department: Primary duty of the officer in the Dept of JAG(Navy) is to attend Courts Martial as Trial Judge Advocate wherein he decides all questions of law arising in the course of trial. An officer in this Department is expected to render advice and assistance to ships/ establishments / units of the Indian Navy in dealing with disciplinary matters, monitoring court cases and also in pursuing litigation in the various courts at various levels. The duties of a legal officer include providing advice on various segments of diverse laws, such as – Naval Law, Rules, Regulations and Orders of the Navy, International Maritime Law, Salvage, Privacy, Contract Law, Criminal and civil Law, Personal Law and others.

Eligibility Criteria for Advocate JAG Department/Law Indian Navy

Age Limit:  Law/Advocate Candidates between 22 and 27 years of age are eligible to apply for post of Advocate, JAG Department/Law in the Indian Navy.

Education Qualification: Candidates should possess degree in Law qualifying them for enrollment as advocates in Indian Navy under the Advocates Act, 1961.

Pilot General Indian Navy

About Pilot General: For those with an aspiration to fly in the skies over the challenging environment of the sea, the Navy needs Pilots for its Naval Air Arm. Naval aircraft search, locate and attack enemy ships, submarines and aircraft whilst providing a defensive cover to our assets at sea.

Duties of Pilot General: Naval Pilots operate fighter aircraft and helicopters from aircraft carriers and ships at sea as well as maritime reconnaissance aircraft from ashore.

Age Limit: Candidates between 19 ½ and 25 years of age are eligible to apply for post of Pilot General Indian Navy.

Education Qualification: Candidates having BE/B.Tech degree in any discipline with Physics & Maths in 12th standard are eligible to apply for the post of Pilot General Indian Navy.

CPL Holders Indian Navy (Commercial Pilot License)

NIA (Naval Armament Inspection) Indian Navy

About NIA Indian Navy: The weaponry in Navy, i.e. Naval Armament (NA) stores, comprise the entire gamut of gun ammunition, torpedoes, missiles, mines and other explosive materials. The reliable performance of these weaponry during the prescribed shelf life is vital to win a war. At the same time, safety of these stores during storage and during disposal is also of major consideration due to involvement of safety of men and material. The Naval Armament Inspection (NAI) organisation is responsible to the Indian Navy to ensure inspection and QA of NA stores.

Duties of NIA:

  • Naval Armament Depots during storage, issue and final disposal of Naval Armament Stores (NAS).
  • Various production agencies like Ordnance Factories, PSUs and private firms for successful production and delivery of Naval Armament Stores.
  • DRDO Labs, in various prestigious projects during their design/ development.
  • Platforms for undertaking routine inspection of the existing launchers or during installation.

Age Limit NIA: Candidates between 19 ½ and 25 years of age are eligible to apply for post of NIA Indian Navy.

Education Qualification NIA: Candidates having qualification BE/B Tech in one of the following stream are eligible to apply for the post of NIA Indian Navy:-
